The following information is available for this conference.
What approaches have proved successful in reducing the number of young people using drugs in developed and developing countries? How successful have efforts been to reduce drug supply and how has the drugs market been affected? What can be learnt from the approach in different countries to reduce the supply at source or in transit, or from heroin “drought” in Australia? What more should countries of main consumption do to support those countries where production is high or used as transit routes? What can be learnt from examples such as demand reduction efforts in Sweden, or prevention work in the USA or in Brazil and Iran? What education and prevention measures have delivered a reduction in consumption? Where can governments intervene successfully? What policies and practices might work best in the future?
